Knowledge, Understanding, Attitude, and People Participation in Tambon Administration Organization in the Northeastern Region of Thailand

   The research to study the understanding, the attitude and people’s participation on Tambon Administration had the following objective : 1) to study the understanding, knowledge, attitude and the people’s participation within the Tambon Administration, 2) to study the ways and suggestions of the people’s participation concerning the Tambon Administration. The researchers also studied documents and other related research. Data collection was done by interviewing three sample groups comprising 1) regional officials governmental local officials such as deputy sheriff and deputy administrator, 2) personnel attached to the Tambon Administration. They are the chairperson of Tambon Administration and the chairperson of Tambon Administration Council and 3) residents of Tambon Administration Zone. Statistics used in data analysis were frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

Results of the research
1. The understanding of the Tambon Administration by the people in the Tambon Administration Zone was quite high. People had high knowledge of general Administration, but there knowledge of the role and duty of the Tambon Administration was rather minimal.
2. People in the Tambon Administration Zone had good attitudes towards the Administration. They believed that they could rely upon the organization for assistance to the people.
3. People in the Tambon Administration Zone participated on the average with the administration of the Tambon Administration. They participated in all aspects : the elections, design of the procedures, procedures and follow ups.
4. Trends and suggestions on the role procedures of the people towards their participation in the organization of the Tambon Administration consisted of :
4.1 promoting, giving education and making people aware of the decentralization of local government,
4.2 setting the role and duty of the Tambon Administration in promoting people to participate more,
4.3 administrating the Tambon Administration which should be more transparent and can be easily checked and made better known to the people in more direct way,
4.4 the making of an organization or their network attached to the people’s sector who could check the administration of Tambon Administration in which people have trust in their work.
