Student’s Learning Behavior by Using The Historical Method : A Case Study of Graduate Student in Social Studies, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University

    The objective of this research was to study learning behavior of the 26 of graduate students in Social Studies, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, 2001 academic year, those who passed the course 214 716 Teachers and Political Studies, and by using the Historical Method in case study of Thai Political History. Data collection were conducted by using Focus Group Discussion and Self-Report Inventory. The major point in studying of learning behavior: instructional indicator with student-centered – the students participated in learning and interaction. They used process skill to develop their own knowledge. They could apply it in their daily lives. Teachers facilitated feasibility and create the conditions which facilitated to learning in order to help students learn happily. The findings were as follows: 1) the students participated in learning and instruction in every step of learning by using the Historical Method and had an interaction with teachers continuously, 2) the students used process skill—thinking process and group process. For thinking process, students developed their thinking in sequence to apply their thinking process such as critical thinking. For group process, since the students studied the problem issues as a group and found that they used group process in shared learning of every learning process step by using the Historical Method, 3) students could apply their knowledge both in their daily lives and work responsibility, 4) teachers were facilitators and create facilitated atmosphere foe learning so that the students could learn happily. It found that the teachers could communicate their basic knowledge experience regarding to the Historical Method clearly. The students had confidence to apply it. The teachers suggested throughout the studying and the students had opportunity to study and search for knowledge freely in every step of the Historical Method.
