On collaboration of teachers and education researchers to improve teaching-learning in Environmental Education in the school through the principle of action research

บทคัดย่อ ภาษาอังกฤษ

   ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project was to enhance collaboration among the educational researchers and teachers. This project consisted of 4 studies, The first study was using group process to foster cooperative work of participants, aimed to foster co-operative work and to enhance unity among participants both before and during the participation in a project. The second study was an application of the principles of action research for improving the teaching -learning activities, aimed to study the outcomes of a training process to foster the skills and ability of participants to conduct classroom research to improve their teaching-learning activities. The third study was an integration of teaching and learning on environmental education, aimed to help the participants to integrate the environmental learning activities into the subjects. The fourth study aimed to develop participants’ capability in constructing instructional media on environmental education. This project was a training project based on the principles of action research. The participants were 5 lecturers of Faculty of Education and 28 primary school teachers from 8 schools in Khon Kaen. Mini-lecture, group activities, exercises and presentation were used in this training project. Participants were required to work collaboratively. Participant observation, interviews, tests, questionnaires, journal writings, photographs were employed for data collection. Formative and summative evaluations were used to investigate the effectiveness of the workshops. The results indicated that through a training project, the researchers and participants had developed self-esteem, self-respect, team building, sharing, collaborative work and a sense of belonging. Moreover, the participants had acquired skills in constructing instructional media, cooperative learning and conducting classroom research to improve their teaching. In particular, the participants conducted research and presented their papers at the Second Conference in Educational Research on February 7, 2003 at the Faculty of Education. In addition, the participant indicated their satisfaction at the high levels both for an operation of workshops ( =4.034, SD=0.513) and activities used in the workshops ( =4.288, SD=0.0.473).
