    ABSTRACT

Research Title: THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING MANAGEMENT MODEL
FOCUSING ON THINKING SKILLS FOR THE SUBSTANCE OF
SOCIAL STUDY

The objective of this research was to study student’s thinking skills based on learning process focusing on thinking skills by using project, the substance of Social Studies, Religious, and Culture. The sample were 10 of teachers and school administrators from 4 schools in the Office of Khon Kaen Educational Service Area 1. The design of this research was Research and Development using Deming Cycle of Work Quality Development including P D C A ( Plan Do Check Action ). The instruments consisted of: 1) The instrument for action including study plan focusing on thinking skills by the project of learning unit, and 2) the instrument for reflection of action including the writing record for criticizing of learning activity management, the observation form of teachers’ learning activity management, and the students’ evaluation form of thinking skills.
The research findings found that learning activity for the development of learning management based on the process, learning based on thinking skills using the project, the researcher had to implement by providing the principle knowledge of thinking skills, learning activity management focusing on student centered by using the project, developing the instructional media. Later on, the knowledge from training was developed for writing preparation of learning management plan focusing on thinking skills by the project. When the sample were able to write the learning management plan, the activities for sharing among people advised and corrected by the researcher and be ready for action in the classroom. For the students’ thinking skills by the project, found that the behavior showing their thinking skills for situational problem presentation, they used their skill for meaning expression, sub-skill for recalling by themselves, sub-skill for using information. For the problem determination step, the students used meaning expression skill, sub-skill for explaining, and thinking skills for questioning. For the project outlining step, the students used their thinking skills as the core for information gathering. For the action step, the students used their thinking skills for meaning expression, sub-skill for explaining, and higher order thinking skills, sub-skill for constructing new body of knowledge.
